Infographic: Notre Dame is Frozen Four bound

After posting back-to-back comeback victories over Minnesota and UMass Lowell, Notre Dame is headed back to the Frozen Four for the first time since 2011 and the third time in program history. It’s a short trip, too: This year’s edition of college hockey’s national championship weekend is at the United Center in Chicago, home of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks.

Waiting for the Irish in the windy city are the Denver Pioneers, the No. 1 overall seed in this year’s tournament, who blitzed through their regional and are looking to claim their first championship since 2005. The Irish and Pioneers take to the ice at 9:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 6.

The winner of the Notre Dame-DU game meets the winner from the first semifinal contest between Minnesota-Duluth and Harvard in the title game, slated for 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 8.

Notre Dame’s semifinal contest will be broadcast on ESPN2, with the championship game jumping over to ESPN two days later.

Below is an update on the state of an Irish team that’s trying to win the first national championship in program history after falling in the 2011 national semifinal and the 2008 title game.
